Located in sestiere Castello, only a few steps away from Piazza S. Marco and Rialto, “Al Giardinetto da Severino” offers traditional dishes of the Venetian cuisine since the beginning of the XX century. Venetian specialties are served with a wide range of quality wines in the charming setting of Palazzo Zorzi, designed by Mauro Codussi (1440–1504) in the XV century. During the warmer season you can have lunch in the wide inner garden, in the shade of its vineyard. From the grape harvest, in September, we make a sweet wine, a rare product very much appreciated in the historical centre of Venice. The indoor room was used as a chapel by the Zorzi family and still preserves its original architectural features, such as the vaulted ceilings and the XVI century frescoed fireplace.
The restaurant has been listed among the “Historical establishments of the Veneto region” as it was opened at the beginning of the XX century. It has been wisely run by the Bastianello Parmesan family since 1949.
Thanks to its amazing location and charming inner court, the restaurant is an ideal setting for special events, wedding receptions, banquets, parties and conventions.
The restaurant also hosted the national painting prize “Amici di Ruga Giuffa” for twenty years. A number of popular artists have entered the competition throughout the years and some of their works still embellish the walls of the indoor room.
